Update on Post Office - April 2026

Wigtown Festival Company has been looking in detail at whether it could provide a part-time post office for the community.

Regrettably, after seeking professional legal and financial advice, it has been concluded that it is not possible to proceed.

In essence, the day-to-day running of a post office would not fit sufficiently with the organisation’s charitable objectives. The idea of setting up a separate trading company was also considered but was deemed to be too risky at this stage.

Should any other group or organisation be interested in exploring further the possibility of providing a post office service to the community, the WFC Board would be happy to share any information it has gleaned and to offer its support.
