Festival seeks Morning people

Get up close and personal with some of The Morning Show speakers over coffee and pastries, while listening to some exceptional acoustic music.

19 September 2025

The day the Wigtown Ploughman pub reopened after a community buy-out was a big day for Wigtown - and for the festival. We got the venue for our daily chat show back. It’s such an intimate space, perfect for getting up close and personal with some of the speakers over coffee and pastries, while listening to some exceptional acoustic music.

The very loose theme of this year’s Morning Show is “side projects”. And perhaps it says something about the previous nature of being a writer that there are so many.

Over the week we’ll be trekking the American prairies, meeting the Moomins, debunking Egyptian myths, entering the strange world of the voiceover artist and even teasing a song out of a Bangkok-based Elvis interpreter. The Morning Show is, to misquote Forrest Gump, like a box of chocolates - you never quite know what you’re going to get.

The show starts on Monday 29 September at 9.30am with the wonderfully warm Vivian French in the host’s chair. And, even better, it’s one of our Pay What You Can events, so it’s the perfect opportunity to take a chance.

You can book your tickets for The Morning Show online.
