Introducing ‘Book Town Book Bonds’

Book Town Book Bonds are a new way to support Wigtown Book Festival and the many booksellers of Scotland’s National Book Town in Wigtown, who have been affected by the lack of visitors during the coronavirus outbreak.

Buy one of our Book Bonds, large or small and, when “normal” service is resumed, we guarantee to send you a curated package of books, sourced from the Festival shop at Number 11 and Wigtown’s other bookshops. Delivery is included in the price.

All packages will include a mixture of new and secondhand books, unless stated.

The book bond range

All our “book bonds” are named after famous Scottish writers - but we’ll be ranging far and wide in our selection.

The Whole Hogg

A bumper collection of fiction and non-fiction, new and old, by a variety of authors─ contemporary and classic, devilishly good collection of titles for sinners and the saved alike. Named in honour the “Ettrick shepherd”, James Hogg.

A Big Burns Bundle

A selection of poetry and fiction. We’ll try to match the cream of contemporary fiction with the best of yesteryear.

Nan Shepherd’s Pie

Inspired by one of Scotland’s great non-fiction writers’, a collection of compelling non-fiction - historical and contemporary.

The Vital Spark

Everything you ever needed to know about life in a £100 package. New books only.

The Denise Minor

A small but perfectly formed collection of crime and punishment from some of the best writers of today and years past.

The “Alastair” Read

A selection of poetry new and old - inspired by the late Alastair Reid, poet of this parish.

JM Barrie’s Bookshelf

The best of children’s literature by post. Please feel free to request books suitable for a specific age group.

McNeillie’s Mix

Named after John McNeillie, author of the classic work of Scottish rural realism, The Wigtown Ploughman, this is a collection of inspiring fiction and non-fiction from Scotland.

Stevenson’s Pocket Deal

Yarns to raise the pulse and thrill the spirit, inspired by the author of Kidnapped.

Bespoke packages

If you have specific requests, for old books or new, we will also be happy to work with Wigtown’s booksellers to fulfil them where possible (subject to postage costs). Profits will be split between the Festival Company and booksellers taking part.

Please let us know of any particular requests.

Support our new digital programme

Like many charities and arts organisations we are trying our best to provide interesting content and a new digital programme for our audience and supporters. If you would like to donate towards our ongoing work we would be very grateful.
