An illustrator speaks

2 August 2013

The eagle-eyed may have noted that this year’s brochure cover is by a new illustrator, Luke Best.

Overseen by designer Tim Bremner, the brief was to create a design that reflected Wigtown’s stunning natural location, the range of activities at the festival, and the sense of people converging on the national Book Town from all over.

We love the results and also this blog post from Luke’s own website, in which he explains his thinking as the drawing developed. If you’ve ever wanted to know what Wigtown might feel like after a century or so of global warming, it may give you an idea. Tropical, man.
