Wigtown's Book Club for readers in Wigtown and further afield.

The club is usually bi-monthly, with members meeting in Wigtown and participating online.

The Wigtown Festival Book Club is a book club with a difference.  This book club brings its members the benefits of being attached to an international book festival with a growing reputation; a book club with both a real and a virtual presence; a book club that offers flexibility - the chance to come along when you can, or to read at home and join in on line if you can't. Above all, a book club that keeps you in touch with the world of books, whatever your commitments and circumstances.

The Wigtown Festival Book Club was launched on in December, at The Old Bank Bookshop, Wigtown. This year we are focusing on ‘lost’ classics – the undiscovered or forgotten treasures we think you’d enjoy re-reading or reading for the first time. Our first title is Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca. You can download some background notes and a couple of question to get you thinking.

Book club meetings are hosted by The Old Bank Bookshop on a Sunday afternoon every two months, with tea and cake of course.

How it works
Meetings start off with a discussion of the book selected. At the end of the meeting the new book is introduced by a member of the group and a couple of questions are offered to guide your reading. This book is discussed at the next meeting so everyone has time to read it. The introduction notes and questions are available to download.

Just come along but it is best to contact us on mail@wigtownbookfestival.com or look at the blog first to check dates, times and venues have not been changed due to unforeseeable circumstances and other acts of nature.

Enjoy browsing around Wigtown Book Town, home to over 20 book-related businesses, and then join a welcoming group of book lovers for a stimulating discussion. The Wigtown Festival blog will keep you up to date with book club dates and news.
