An internship with Wigtown Festival Company

Who is it for?

15-25 year olds in Dumfries and Galloway

What is involved?

It will be split into two parts:

1.      Helping with the organisation of the Wigtown Writers’ Gathering in advance – promotion, and event admin support.

2.      Assisting with the Gathering on the day.  

What skills do I need?

The intern should enjoy meeting people, be flexible, have good time keeping skills and enjoy being part of a team.

When will it happen?

The first part will be at a time during April decided between Wigtown Festival Company and the intern. The second part will take place on the day of the Writers’ Gathering (1st May)

What will I be doing?

Main duties (with support) will include:

Ø  Before the Gathering, helping to spread the word by contacting Writers’ Groups and schools to promote the event. Also, other events management tasks such as ordering catering and booking venues.

Ø  At the Gathering, meeting and greeting authors, welcoming attendees, setting up the venue and making sure the workshop leaders have what they need. Also, tweeting during sessions.

The deadline is 5pm on Thursday 2nd April.

What do I need to organise?

1.      You will need to organise to be out of school/college if applicable (we can help with this).

2.      You will need to organise travel to the Wigtown Festival Company office in Wigtown (we can help with costs of public transport or fuel for this).

Any other information?

You may have the opportunity to apply for a Bronze Arts Award. More information will be available to the successful candidate.
